Basics

OEM vs ODM — what's the difference?

Both mean "a factory makes it, you put your brand on it." The difference is who provides the formula and design.

Choosing a factory

Six things to check in a contract manufacturer

In-house R&D laboratory
Whether they can develop, adjust and test formulas themselves — this decides customisation flexibility and how fast they can meet spec upgrades. Blenders that only mix bought semi-finished oil can't.
Approvals & spec capability
Whether they meet API/ACEA/JASO and have real OEM approval experience (MB 229.3, Porsche, etc.) — the most direct proof of quality.
MOQ & packaging flexibility
Minimum order quantity, and whether 1L/4L/18L/200L and custom containers are available. MOQ varies by product, packaging and formula complexity — clarify it upfront.
Private-label branding
Can they help with label and carton design, barcodes and multilingual marking that meet domestic and export regulations.
Complete documentation
TDS/SDS, spec cross-references and necessary test reports — essential for customs and getting onto shelves.
Export track record
Whether they have real export experience and can assist with export documents and shipping.
FAQ

OEM/ODM FAQ

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for lubricant OEM?

There is no single figure — MOQ depends on the product, packaging and formula complexity. Small packs (1L/4L) and standard formulas have a lower threshold; large drums or highly custom blends are higher. Contact us with your product and volume for a real quote.

Can I create a private label without my own formula?

Yes — that's ODM. The factory supplies a proven formula; you choose the spec and packaging and apply your brand, for the fastest launch.

What's a typical lead time?

It depends on whether a new formula or certification is needed, plus volume and packaging. ODM with an existing formula is fastest; OEM requiring sampling and validation takes longer.

Can you handle label/packaging design and export documents?

Yes. ONEWAY assists with private-label branding, cartons and multilingual marking, and provides TDS/SDS; with export experience in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, we can help with export logistics.

Is ONEWAY's manufacturing quality assured?

ONEWAY is made by Huihong Petrochemical (since 1973) with an in-house R&D lab and ISO 9001:2015 quality management, and holds MB 229.3 and Porsche A40 approvals. See About.
